From Referrals Only to #1 on Google Maps in Two Weeks
ResqPros is a water, fire and mold restoration company in Riverside. For years, almost all of its work came from referrals. That kept the trucks busy, but it also meant the business only grew as fast as word of mouth could carry it.
In October 2026, we rebuilt their website and started publishing helpful content every month. This page tracks what happens, in the open, with real numbers. We’ll update it at 30, 60 and 90 days.

The Starting Point
ResqPros does good work. Their reviews say so: 21 of them, all five stars. But when a homeowner in Riverside searched for help on their own, ResqPros was hard to find.
The owner had built the first website himself. It was a fair start for a new brand, but it didn’t look like a company you’d trust with a flooded kitchen or a smoke-damaged home. We rebuilt it once already as a cleaner brochure site, so referrals would land somewhere that matched the quality of the work. That helped people who already had their name. It did nothing for people who didn’t.
Here’s what search looked like before this project:
- Map results: across five core services, ResqPros showed up in the top 3 map results at zero of the 405 points we checked. They appeared at all only within about a mile of their office.
- Google search: they weren’t in the top 50 results for any of 13 service searches in Riverside. Only a search for their own name brought them up.
- AI answers: ChatGPT and Google’s AI results didn’t mention them at all.
In short, a business with perfect reviews was close to invisible to anyone who didn’t already know its name.
What We Did
We started with the foundation, then added the pieces that build on it month after month.
- Rebuilt the website (launched October 1). Clear service pages for water damage, mold, fire and smoke, sewage cleanup and rebuilds, written for the questions homeowners actually ask in the middle of a bad day.
- Started publishing helpful articles. Four were live at launch. Each answers a real question, like what to do in the first hour after a leak, in plain language. This is also what gets a business mentioned in AI answers, not just ranked on Google.
- Google Business Profile posts (starting October 19). Regular updates that keep the profile active and point people to the right page on the site. Posts are the shop window; the website content is the foundation.
- Directory listings. We’re adding ResqPros to 10 to 30 trusted directories over the first three months, then keeping their name, address and phone consistent everywhere.
We didn’t run ads. Everything here is organic, which means it keeps working after the month ends.
Early Results: the First Two Weeks
On October 16 we checked again, before touching the Google Business Profile. So this snapshot shows what the new site and first articles did on their own.
Map results moved first. ResqPros now ranks #1 on Google Maps at their Riverside office for “water damage restoration,” “water damage repair” and “fire damage restoration,” and in the top 10 at several points nearby. Three weeks earlier, their best showing on any of those was #6.
| Search term | Grid points ranking (of 81) | Best position |
|---|---|---|
| water damage restoration | 1 → 12 | #18 → #1 |
| water damage repair | 7 → 21 | #6 → #1 |
| fire damage restoration | 15 → 12 | #7 → #1 |

Google started showing the site far more often. Impressions rose from 155 to 548 in matching two-week windows, and the site appeared for 133 different searches, casting a wide net for customers in their area.
We want to be straight about what this does and doesn’t mean:
- It’s early. Two weeks is a snapshot, and rankings bounce from day to day. We’ll judge this at 60 and 90 days.
- Clicks haven’t moved yet. New pages usually show up lower in results first, then climb. That’s also why average position dropped while impressions rose: the site is now appearing for many more searches, most of them not yet on page 1.
- Some gains are mixed. Fire damage now ranks #1 at their office but reaches fewer points farther out.
- Mold hasn’t moved at all. That’s our next fix, and it’s covered below.
- The site and content launched together. We can’t split credit between them cleanly, and we won’t pretend to. The new site is the foundation, and the content is what we build on it.
What We’re Tracking Next
We’ll update this page on these dates, whatever the numbers say:
| Checkpoint | Date |
|---|---|
| 30 days | October 31, 2026 |
| 60 days | November 30, 2026 |
| 90 days | December 30, 2026 |
At each one we’ll report map rankings, Google impressions and clicks, directory listings, reviews, and whether AI tools mention ResqPros. Next on the list:
- Fix mold visibility. Mold remediation and inspection are core services with zero map presence. We’ll start with the Google Business Profile.
- Reach the rest of the service area. Jurupa Valley, Eastvale, Corona, Norco and Moreno Valley are a longer climb than Riverside. City-focused content is how we’ll get there.
- Count the phone calls. Rankings are only useful if they bring in work. We’ve set up tracking for calls and form submissions from the site, so future updates can show leads, not just positions.
